Rebecca Balogh is responsible for counseling U.S. companies entering overseas markets, advocating for U.S. commercial interests, and organizing trade promotion activities. Prior to her posting in the San Diego Export Assistance Center, Rebecca was a Commercial Officer in Beijing, China covering the travel and tourism, education, film, TV, media, general industrial equipment, and safety and security sectors. While in China she led the in-country efforts on the Presidential-level U.S.-China Tourism Year. She also previously served two details from Commerce one of which was to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) in Washington, DC providing help and counseling to NAM’s 18,000 small and medium sized members. From 2006-2009 she served as a Commercial Officer in the Northern Virginia Export Assistance Center, Arlington, VA where she covered Multi-Lateral Development Bank procurement and worked with companies in various industry sectors including agriculture goods and services, construction, and engineering. From 2003-2006 she was posted to Mexico City, Mexico and from 1998-2002 she was Acting Senior Commercial Officer in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Rebecca is a graduate from the University of California – Davis with a degree in International Agricultural Development. She has also served as a foreign service officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development as well as the director of a Land O’ Lakes agricultural aid program in Albania and as an agricultural economist with the USDA.
