Maggie Hanson-Muse is a second generation Senior Foreign Service officer who has served in Mexico, Cote d’Ivoire, India (twice), Costa Rica, Peru, and Colombia. Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Commerce, she worked for Allstate, General Electric, and Sprint.
 
From Singapore, Maggie oversees trade policy, promotion, enforcement and compliance programs as well as the administrative operations for seven U.S. Department of Commerce offices and the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) located in: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Her offices also support Embassy partner post programs in Brunei, Cambodia, and Laos and activities with the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the U.S. EXIM Bank. Maggie has worked with the USG interagency to support FTA negotiations in Latin America. She has a MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University, and a B.A. cum laude in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Brandeis University. She speaks Spanish and French, and is an Advisory Board member of Women Corporate Directors.
