Evan Chuck leads the firm's global International Trade practice group. He is also the managing partner of the firm's Shanghai office and China Practice. His practice focuses on international transactions, with significant emphasis on cross-border acquisitions, project development and government compliance in Asia. He has defended multinational companies in anti-bribery and customs investigations with various government authorities in Asia. He also counsels U.S. companies and their Asian operations on compliance matters with respect to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Mr. Chuck represents U.S. companies that offshore or outsource their design and manufacturing needs to firms throughout Asia - including China, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Philippines and India. He also represents industrial contract manufacturers in negotiating agreements with original equipment manufacturers and distributors in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. He has experience in a broad range of industries, including semiconductor assembly and testing, electric generation (coal and solar), GPS, healthcare, medical device design, advertising services, industrial goods and commodities (metals).
Mr. Chuck represents domestic and international financial institutions acting as lenders, trustees, credit enhancers and paying agents in corporate debt issuances. He has represented financial institutions in their efforts to expand their retail and money remittance businesses in the U.S. and abroad and has been counsel to institutional investors and issuers in private placement transactions of equity securities.
He received a J.D. from The George Washington University, J.D., and B.A. with Honors from Johns Hopkins University
