McAuliffe is Founder and President of Newport Ltd., a leading marketing services company based in Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1994, Newport has built an organization of over 800 sales professionals in 60 independently owned offices throughout Japan.

This sales force performs a variety of one-to-one marketing services including sales promotion, customer acquisition and product sales for a select number of Japanese and international clients. The company was certified with ISO14001 in 2004.


He is also on the Board of Directors of Beijing New Horizon Real Estate Consulting Co., Ltd, a real estate development company focusing on the China market.


Prior to founding Newport Ltd., McAuliffe held senior-level marketing and strategic development positions for seven years with Reuters Japan Ltd. His responsibilities included directing Reuters worldwide mergers and acquisition strategy for the medical information business, launching a satellite based video information service, and marketing real-time print and video news services.


Before joining Reuters, he worked in Hong Kong for Time Inc. for six years. From an initial stint as advertising manager for Time Magazine he moved to circulation director for Time in Southeast Asia and then Asian circulation director for Fortune International where he launched the Asian/Pacific edition.


Prior to joining Time Inc., McAuliffe worked for eight years in various freelance and staffed editorial positions throughout Asia Pacific including three years based in Tokyo as Asian editor for Ace International, a trade magazine for the consumer electronics industry.


McAuliffe received an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business IBEAR Program in 1987 and took his undergraduate degree in English Literature from San Diego State University in 1973. He is active in service and business organizations including Rotary International and the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
