Kevin is a partner in the Sydney office of the international law firm, Deacons.


Qualified to practice law in both the U.S. and Australia, Kevin has assisted numerous U.S. companies establish operations in Australia and he regularly advises Australian based companies entering the U.S. market. Kevin is a frequent speaker on U.S.-Australian issues.

In addition to his Australian focus, Kevin has extensive experience in China and in the wider Asia Pacific area. He is the current national Chairman of the Australia China Business Council, is on the Advisory Board of the China Research Centre of the University of Technology, Sydney and is on the 7-member Australia China Council of the Australian government. He is a member of the International Council of the Asia Society and is on the Board of the Asia Pacific Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (Australia) Ltd.


Mr. Hobgood-Brown has lived and worked in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei. From 1983-1987, he taught on the law faculty of Beijing University while working in his law firm’s Beijing office. In the mid 1990s, he was the Managing Partner of the firm's Beijing office. He was managing partner of his firm’s Taipei office in the early 1990’s. He has been based in Sydney since 1996.
