Jim Cunningham is a Foreign Service Officer assigned as the Chief Commercial Consul for the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong & Macau. Previously, he was the Regional Senior Commercial Officer for Southeast Europe, based at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, Romania. Prior to Romania and an assignment in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio (2009 - 2011), Mr. Cunningham served as the Commercial Consul for the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, India (2005 – 2008). Before serving in Mumbai, he was the Principal Commercial Officer at the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2002 - 2005) and Commercial Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico (1999 – 2001). From 1995-1998, Mr. Cunningham served the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service in Los Angeles, California where he worked as Office Director after working as a Senior Trade Specialist.
He worked for the International Trade Administration’s Office of Antidumping Investigations in Washington from 1991 – 1995. Mr. Cunningham worked for the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Executive Office of the U.S. President, from 1990-1991.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and a Masters of Business Administration degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
